NOTICE! Scheduled Ride Change of Starting Place

Our June 4th ride which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Gum Springs will start from DAVIS CAMP.
Due to lack of sufficient parking at the Gum Springs trail head we have decided to park and begin our ride from Davis Camp.  Start time remains the same, 10 a.m.
See you there!

Conley Ride May 21, 2011

Even though today started out a little damp and gray we had a great ride!  Most of us were more than just a little surprised we made the trip without getting wet, especially due to the few drops of rain beginning to fall at our 10 a.m. start time.  As it turned out we had two teams and 10 horse/riders.
For those of you who opted to stay home because you thought you might get wet, well what can I say!  We even had one very special young man and his pretty pony with us and he wouldn't have missed it for anything!
In Southern Illinois one can just never put to much stock in that weather forecast!
Our next scheduled ride is for June 4, 2011.  Although your schedule says we are to start at Gum Springs, due to the small amount of parking available there we will instead park and ride out of Davis Camp.

Spring Dahmer Ride, 2011

Our annual Spring Dahmer ride took place yesterday, Saturday, April 9.  Yes, I said it did take place!
The day didn't get off to a great start due to rain and some early morning thunderstorms.  However, by start time (10 a.m.) the rain was moving out and by noon we had lots of warmth and considerable sunshine.
Only two riders began at Dahmer's farm, then two more joined them at Chester Turner's farm.  We rode on to Creal Springs where we stopped for lunch with one more rider joining us there to complete the ride to New Burnside.

The day turned out to be a perfect one for riding...should have been there!

January 2011 HMRA Meeting

Greetings to all, especially those of you we did not see at our monthly meeting last evening, January 15, 2011.  Club members enjoyed wonderful (potluck) food and desserts along with the opportunity to visit with each other.  Our meeting centered on planning our 2011 Schedule of Events for the Heartland Mule Riders.  You may expect to see the full schedule here on the blog within the month, prior to our February meeting.
Many members took the opportunity to pay their 2011 club dues, which are still only $10 per family.  If you have not yet paid your dues and or notified Wayne Reynolds of your intent to attend the annual 9 Day Encampment, please do so asap!  Wayne must have names and numbers turned into the Associated Saddle Club/9Day Association right away.  In order to be eligible for the discount at 9 Day, you must be a member in good standing (annual dues paid) to your saddle club.  Please notify Wayne or I (Robin) if you still need to take care of this.
That's for for now, hope to see you soon!
